Bio and Statement
Karen is a lifelong artist using a variety of mediums and techniques. She has worked in television/video production, photography, graphic design, printmaking, painting and mixed media and has created and conducted community art experiences. She also has a long career as a psychotherapist. Curiosity runs through her endeavors. She has shown work in San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Matazalan, Mexico, Santa Cruz, CA, Crockett, CA, Santa Clara, CA, Oakland, CA, Emeryville, CA, San Rafael, CA and other locations. Currently living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area, she is a graduate of California College of Art and Crafts (Oakland, CA) where she received a comprehensive fine arts education concentrating her studies in printmaking and photography. The piece in this year’s show is a diptych, oil on wood panels. There’s a spirited interplay between layers, lightness and weight, with the two panels playing off of each other as if in a rocking motion, echoing one another.
