In March 2025, the New York Times published a piece titled, "These Words Are Disappearing in the New Trump Administration." Some are discouraged, others are flagged for complete removal in government documents. Here, we have letters A and B of the Autocratic Alphabet. Each 24”x24” quilt displays three words or phrases from the list. 

Marian Alonso was born and raised in the Bay Area. She began quilting in March of 2020 for the same reason many people picked up new hobbies that year. These quilts were pieced, quilted, and bound by the artist. Marian is a member of the East Bay Modern Quilters and the East Bay Heritage Quilters. She lives in Emeryville with her partner and dog, and works as a Speech-Language Pathologist at a local hospital.
